CentralColo, a colocation data center operator located in Silicon Valley with planned facilities in Las Vegas, Los Angeles and Sacramento, has completed deployment of Baidu Research into its new pay-per-use high density focused data center in the heart of Silicon Valley (SV1) – a Tier III, 95,000 square foot data center with over 8 MW of total IT load and up to 25 kW of power available per cabinet.

Baidu Research, a division of Baidu, Inc., brings together top researchers, scientists and engineers from around the world to work on fundamental AI technologies. Research areas include image recognition, speech recognition, natural language processing, robotics, and big data.

The unique demands of doing cutting-edge research using an HPC cluster made it crucial to find the right partner for Baidu Research in the area. Due to the high density in its compute clusters and evolving requirements that necessitate short timelines and flexible arrangements, it was important to find a colocation data center provider they were happy with.

baidu research“We are excited to have Baidu Research in our new high density Data Center,” said Arman Khalili, CEO of CentralColo. “We realize that with the need for big data comes big power and cooling challenges, and with our capital improvements, we have been able to provide the perfect platform for this crucial business need. We have seen an increase of customers requesting cabinets with 15 to 25 KW density so we invested in our infrastructure in order to support IT loads up to 25 KW per cabinet.”

CentralColo has assembled a team of industry veterans to operate prime data center properties. This data center in Silicon Valley marks the company’s first facility. The 95,000 square foot data center was opened in June 2015. CentralColo focuses on offering pay-per-use scalable data and compute center solutions and will be expanding its operations to additional locations to address their clients’ IT requirements.
