Accelerite, a provider of infrastructure software in the areas of cloud management as well as endpoint and enterprise mobility management, has entered into an agreement to acquire Citrix CloudPlatform, powered by Apache CloudStack and CloudPortal Business Manager. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The addition of these technologies to the company’s cloud software portfolio would help enterprises and service providers simplify cloud management and accelerate the adoption of containers in the cloud. The transaction, subject to customary closing conditions, is expected to close before March 31st 2016.
“Cloud infrastructure software is one of the three pillars of Accelerite,” said Nara Rajagopalan, CEO of Accelerite. “Today, our cloud software portfolio includes disaster recovery and enterprise self-service solutions. The addition of CloudPlatform and CloudPortal Business Manager product lines will help round out our portfolio and enable us to offer complete end-to-end life cycle management for public and private clouds.”
“Although we see an increase in both the acceptance and adoption of containers in today’s clouds, large gaps still exist in an enterprise’s ability to deploy and manage containers in these environments,” added Mr. Rajagopalan. “CloudPlatform, with its simplicity and ease-of-use along with its tremendous customer base, is a great platform for enterprises to use to address this emerging need to help evolve the cloud into its next phase of hyper-convergence.”
Citrix CloudPlatform, powered by Apache CloudStack, is cloud computing software for creating, managing, and deploying public and private cloud infrastructure services. CloudPortal Business Manager is a unified cloud services delivery and business management platform that enables cloud services automation for provisioning, billing, metering and user management. CloudPortal Business Manager would make it easy to deliver a broad array of cloud services while integrating with existing business, operations and IT systems.
“Customers are our top priority and we are confident that Accelerite will nurture our customers who are heavily invested in running their clouds on these solutions,” said Steve Wilson, vice president, Core Infrastructure, Citrix. “Accelerite has been successful in acquiring product lines from other large companies to grow cloud computing and virtualization software products. Citrix will work closely with Accelerite to build on CloudPlatform integrations with our key offerings that enable the secure delivery of apps and data.”
