DCspine, a software-defined interconnection platform for data centers in the Netherlands, has deployed a Point-of-Presence (PoP) in The Datacenter Group’s Amsterdam facility. Thanks to the cooperation with DCspine, TDCG can now easily connect all ten of its own data center locations to other data centers across the Netherlands.
In addition to offering colocation and private cloud services, this would enable TDCG to easily provide access to third-party delivered IaaS and private cloud services from its own data centers.
“Next to colocation and private cloud services, more and more customers want to purchase IaaS from parties such as Microsoft Azure, AWS or Google,” said Aike Rosdorff, account manager at TDCG. “Via DCspine, we now have direct connectivity available to the Dutch and Belgian data centers of these parties from all our data center locations.”
Hybrid Cloud Advisor
Access to the DCspine platform would allow TDCG not only to act as an advisor in the journey to the cloud, but also to act as a one-stop-shop for customers who opt for the hybrid cloud. “We not only provide colocation, we’re also the landlord of providers of public and private cloud services,” added Mr. Rosdorff. “Customers often ask us for independent and neutral advice about their path to the hybrid cloud. By connecting to DCspine, we can now easily link these public IaaS services to our colocation services and the private cloud.”
For TDCG, the strong presence of DCspine across all regions in the Netherlands and Belgium is also an important aspect of the cooperation. DCspine is an interconnection platform currently providing access to 70 data centers including TDCG’s ten facilities, not only in the Randstad but throughout the Netherlands and Belgium.
“We are currently expanding strongly in the region. Through our merger with NLDC we currently have ten locations in the Netherlands,” added Mr. Rosdorff. “Customers outside the Randstad, in for example Groningen or Eindhoven find it important to have the primary as well as their backup data center close by. Certainly, because they are increasingly opting for an active-active data center set-up. Via DCspine, we can now provide our clients access to 60 other data center locations from the TDCG facilities.”
