Global cybersecurity solutions provider Acronis has acquired Synapsys, a channel service provider and Acronis Cyber Protection Solutions distributor based in Cape Town, South Africa. It marks Acronis’ 4th acquisition in one and a half years. It provides African IT clients with direct access to Acronis’ cyber protection offerings.

Highlighting the acquisition, Acronis stated that “Synapsys has been a trusted and valuable partner in our efforts to extend our cyber protection solutions to organizations across the African continent. This acquisition will give their users direct access to our technology and support.” Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Synapsys is a South Africa-based channel-centric group of companies that has been distributing Acronis Cyber Protection Solutions to their client base through its dedicated ecosystem of resellers, sub-distributors, and MSPs (Managed Service Providers) in the South African region and other parts of Africa.

Expressing his thoughts on the current acquisition, Acronis founder and CEO Serguei Beloussov said: “Synapsys has been a trusted and valuable partner in our efforts to extend our cyber protection solutions to organizations across the African continent. This acquisition will give their users direct access to our technology and support.”

“At the same time, Africa is becoming a strategic growth opportunity for Acronis, and acquiring Synapsys provides us with a permanent presence on the continent. The move is beneficial for Acronis, the African MSP channel, and the organizations and users that need to safeguard their workloads and systems against the modern threat landscape,” Mr. Beloussov added.

New Cybersecurity Acquisitions

The fresh acquisition aligns with the company’s current mission of Global/Local Initiative to facilitate immediate countrywide access to the worldwide resources of Acronis by working in proximity with its partners. Geographic local presence would also increase Acronis’ efficiency to secure their clients against the latest security risks.

The managing director of Synapsys, Peter French, will assume the new role of Acronis’ General Manager for Africa and Middle East Markets.

Talking about the relationship with Acronis, Peter French said: “No business school advice tells you to put all your eggs in one basket. But this is exactly what we did with Acronis, and we have never regretted it.”

“Our laser-focus and partner-centric ethos are backed by our alignment with Acronis’ mission, especially the drive to the cloud and the cyber protect approach to data protection and digital security. This deal feels like a natural extension of this long-standing relationship. Partnerships are about relationships that are about people: we are looking forward to continuing to support MSPs across Africa in keeping the ecosystem cyber protected, now as part of Acronis. And former Synapsys partners can look forward to a closer relationship with Acronis, working through the same core team on the ground that they have grown to trust over the years,” he concluded.

Following a premeditated period of transition, Synapsys will be incorporated into Acronis taking the charge of Pan-Africa Sales of Acronis’ cyber protection solutions.

As a part of its accelerated growth strategy, Acronis is continually exploring strategic acquisitions to improve its response efficiency to the challenges of 5 vectors of cyber protection namely solving the safety, accessibility, privacy, authenticity, and security (SAPAS).
