Alibaba Cloud Unveils Serverless Solutions

Alibaba Cloud Serverless

During its Apsara Conference 2022 event, Alibaba Cloud has unveiled key serverless solutions to enable better product deployment and development. Alibaba Cloud is making its core cloud services serverless so that users can focus on product deployment and development without having to worry about maintaining infrastructure and servers.

Essentially, the updated offerings from Alibaba Cloud concentrate on giving clients access to processing capacity on demand.

These include, for instance, the cloud-native data warehouse AnalyticDB (ADB), the cloud-native database PolarDB, and ApsaraDB for Relational Database Service (RDS). Customers may benefit from automated scaling with high elasticity based on actual workloads and a pay-as-you-go payment model by utilizing the serverless technologies offered by Alibaba Cloud. Demands can have an automated elastic scaling time of as short as one second.

According to Alibaba Cloud, businesses in the Internet sector may, on average, save their expenditures by 50 percent by employing updated database solutions as opposed to conventional ones. At the moment, Alibaba Cloud has over 20 serverless key products overall, and it is expanding its serverless product categories.

AI Models

Jeff Zhang, President of Alibaba Cloud Intelligence
“As more customers are speeding up with their cloud adoption, we have been upgrading our cloud-based resources, services and tools to become serverless,” said Jeff Zhang, President of Alibaba Cloud Intelligence.

At Apsara Conference 2022, Alibaba Cloud also unveiled ModelScope, an open-source Model-as-a-Service (MaaS) platform containing hundreds of AI models, including sizable pre-trained models for international developers and academics. To further assist clients in achieving business innovation through cloud technologies, the world’s top cloud provider enhanced its integrated data analytics and intelligent computing platform and unveiled a variety of serverless database solutions during its flagship conference.

Over 300 ready-to-deploy AI models were created by the Alibaba DAMO Academy over the course of the previous five years and are available on the ModelScope platform upon launch. These models span a wide range of topics, including computer vision, audio, and natural language processing (NLP).

“Cloud computing has given rise to a fundamental revolution in the way computing resources are organized, produced and put to commercial use while shifting the paradigm of software development and speeding up the integration of the cloud and endpoint terminals,” said Jeff Zhang, President of Alibaba Cloud Intelligence. “As more customers are speeding up with their cloud adoption, we have been upgrading our cloud-based resources, services and tools to become serverless, more intelligent and digitalized in order to lower the barrier for companies to adopt new technology and capture more opportunities in the cloud era.”

Open Data Platform and Services

To provide businesses a variety of data processing and analytics services, Alibaba Cloud recently updated its ODPS (Open Data Platform and Services), a self-developed comprehensive data analytics and intelligent computing platform. The platform can manage online and offline data simultaneously in one system, giving firms with heavy workloads access to analytics for more effective and less expensive corporate decision-making.

Recent findings from the Transaction Processing Performance Group (TPC), an industry council that establishes guidelines for transaction processing and database benchmarking, would show that ODPS has updated world records for big data performance. According to Alibaba Cloud, the performance of the ODPS Maxcompute Cluster achieved the highest score for the sixth consecutive year when measured against a benchmark of 100 TB of data. The TPC-H 30000GB decision support benchmark test produced a record-breaking performance for the ODPS Hologres Cluster as well.
