OnScale, a cloud simulation service, has struck a final deal with Ansys. This technology purchase will help provide a cloud-native, web-based user interface (UI) enabling device-independent access to Ansys’ extensive array of simulation capabilities once it is incorporated into Ansys’ existing cloud portfolio. The acquisition’s financial terms were not disclosed.
Founded in 1970, Ansys is headquartered south of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in the US. Ansys’ cloud portfolio now offers customers scalable, location-independent access to Ansys simulation through a marketplace offering (Ansys Gateway powered by AWS) and a managed cloud service (Ansys Cloud powered by Azure).
PyAnsys (Ansys’ open-source Python API software package for a broad development environment) also offers a platform-centric approach to the creation and deployment of new verticalized, or use-case-specific, simulation-based applications.
The inclusion of a cloud-native framework from OnScale, which would provide a user-friendly, web-based UI, will now augment these capabilities and emerging new applications.
“Customer needs are varied, and any successful cloud strategy must give customers the flexibility to adapt the use of cloud to their unique simulation challenges. To that end, our cloud strategy addresses the needs of not only existing customers, but any engineer, scientist or professional who can benefit from simulation technology,” said Shane Emswiler, Senior Vice President of Products at Ansys. “From enterprise customers who have invested heavily in simulation, to startups seeking flexible, scalable purchasing – Ansys provides organizations of all sizes with flexibility to leverage the cloud in ways that create maximum value for their teams.”
Engineers may use this on-demand scalable engineering simulation software from OnScale to speed up innovation in a variety of sectors, including next-generation technologies like MEMS IoT, 5G, Biomedicine, and Autonomous Vehicles. OnScale combines sophisticated multiphysics solver technology, which has been used and tested by Fortune 50 businesses for over 30 years, with the unbounded speed and flexibility of cloud HPC. OnScale helps engineers to substantially decrease cost, risk, and time to market for cutting-edge products by eliminating the limits of older simulation tools
“OnScale’s cloud-native technology combines the limitless compute power of cloud supercomputers with an intuitive web-based front end, making simulation accessible to anyone,” said Ian Campbell, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at OnScale. “Knowing that OnScale’s technology will now run simulations using Ansys’ industry-leading technology is incredibly exciting for me and my team. We are thrilled to be joining the Ansys family.”
