The Australian Securities Exchange ASX has picked Arista Networks (NYSE:ANET) to develop a new cognitive campus networking environment. In addition to two large buildings in Sydney, the new network will also offer connection for ASX personnel in Melbourne and Perth. The new network will be constructed on the Arista 720XP series switching platform.
Arista’s low latency 7130 platform is used by ASX for high-frequency trading and FPGA applications, as well as Arista’s EOS (Extensible Operating System) and CloudVision software for network-wide management, workload orchestration, and workflow automation.
ASX and Arista Networks have had a long-standing relationship for more than a decade. To monitor and manage the network, the Arista CloudVision platform offers ASX with a single, real-time view across all devices.
“We have worked with Arista extensively for several years, utilizing their switching platforms in many areas of our production and corporate environment,” said David Glavin, General Manager Technology Infrastructure at ASX. “We have also implemented their EOS and CloudVision architecture, which is world leading for network management and real-time insights into our environment. By deploying Arista for our new campus network, we will extend those benefits across our entire business operations, in trading and non-trading environments.”
This series of Layer 1+ Arista switches is designed for ultra-low latency and offers a wide range of management functions. Featuring 16, 48, or 96 ports, they offer a variety of network functions on a single device:
- Signal regeneration
- Media conversion
- Port mirroring
- Dynamic patching/link management
- Layer 1+ statistics on every link
“We are delighted to have been selected by the ASX to deploy their next generation cognitive campus network environment,” said Garry Turner, Arista Managing Director, Australia and New Zealand. “The ASX is a flagship client for Arista Networks, in the company of many other leading equity and commodity exchanges around the world who rely on Arista’s leading-edge platforms to operate in a very demanding technology environment where high performance is absolutely essential.”
