Amazon Web Services (AWS) has launched its new product, Amazon WorkSpaces. This cloud hosting-based solution offers a fully managed desktop computing service to AWS customers. The Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) solution is initially available in the US-East-1 (N.Virginia) and US-West-2 (Oregon) AWS Regions, with support for more regions coming soon.
Amazon Workspaces allows users to provision cloud hosting-based desktops and access the documents, applications and resources they need with the device of their choice, including laptops, iPad, Kindle Fire, and Android tablets. AWS clients can also integrate Amazon WorkSpaces with a corporate Active Directory for seamless access to company resources.
With a few clicks in the AWS Management Console, users can provision the AWS cloud hosting-based desktop experience for any number of users at a cost that would be highly competitive with traditional desktops.
