AWS has released AWS Mainframe Modernization, a new service that would make it faster and easier for clients to modernize mainframe-based workloads by shifting them to the cloud. Customers may rework their mainframe workloads to operate on AWS using AWS Mainframe Modernization, which transforms mainframe-based applications into contemporary cloud services.
Customers may also leave their applications as-is and replatform their workloads to AWS by reusing existing code and making minor adjustments. A controlled runtime environment integrated into AWS Mainframe Modernization offers the computing, memory, and storage required to execute both refactored and replatformed programs, as well as helping automate capacity provisioning, security, load balancing, scaling, and application health monitoring.
The AWS Mainframe Modernisation service also includes the development, testing, and deployment tools required to automate mainframe application modernization for AWS. There are no setup fees, and clients would only pay for the computational resources they use.
Modernizing Mainframe Programs
Customers can modernize and operate their mainframe workloads on AWS quicker and simpler with AWS Mainframe Modernization, which provides a comprehensive development and runtime environment. AWS Mainframe Modernization combines all of the tools required to modernize mainframe programs into a single environment, resulting in a complete modernization pipeline.
Clients may refactor workloads developed for mainframes to current cloud services using AWS Mainframe Modernization. They may also keep their existing apps and replatform them to AWS with little code modifications. AWS Mainframe Modernization provides a managed, cloud-based runtime environment for modernized applications that helps automate capacity provisioning, security, load balancing, auto-scaling, and application health monitoring with no underlying infrastructure to manage, whether customers choose to refactor or replatform their workloads.
Customers can run their modernized workloads in production on an ongoing basis with the “agility, elasticity, and cost savings” of AWS Mainframe Modernization, which includes continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) capabilities to enable modern application development and deployment best practices. End-clients and SIs may also utilize AWS Mainframe Modernization to assist teams better analyze mainframe application modernization and de-risk and expedite mainframe workload modernization using AWS.

AWS Mainframe Modernization is now available in the following AWS Regions: US East (North Virginia), US West (Oregon), Asia Pacific (Sydney), Canada (Central), Europe (Frankfurt), Europe (Ireland), and South America (Sao Paulo), with more AWS Regions to follow in the coming months.
