Barracuda Buys Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) Specialist, Fyde

Barracuda Networks has acquired Fyde, an American/Portuguese company specialized in Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA). With this acquisition, Barracuda Networks aims to strengthen its CloudGen Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) platform with Zero Trust capabilities that secure remote access to enterprise applications.

“Fyde offers a powerful ZTNA solution that works on any infrastructure, on any device and with any application on the enterprise network,” said BJ Jenkins, President and CEO of Barracuda.

Fyde’s Zero Trust solution would provide “secure, reliable and fast” access to applications in the cloud or on-premises, with any device and from any location. This ZTNA solution addresses the cybersecurity risks of traditional remote access technologies by ensuring that only the right person, with the right device and rights, has access to enterprise applications and data. The solution would be ideal for giving users direct access to cloud and legacy applications running in hybrid and multi-cloud environments.

The Fyde solution is immediately available under the name Barracuda CloudGen Access, for organizations of all sizes. In the coming weeks this solution will also become available for Managed Service Providers (MSPs). The financial details of the acquisition have not been disclosed.

Cybersecurity Technologies

“We continue to work remotely, organizations are accelerating their cloud migrations and the traditional external borders of companies have disappeared,” said BJ Jenkins, President and CEO of Barracuda. “Fyde offers a powerful ZTNA solution that works on any infrastructure, on any device and with any application on the enterprise network. With this acquisition, Barracuda offers organizations a new solution to modernize their remote access and enforce security and access policies across the organization, for seamless connectivity with no impact on productivity.”

This acquisition of Fyde would reinforce Barracuda’s differentiated offering for today’s complex IT environments.

It allows security teams to deploy a variety of cybersecurity technologies, including:

  • Secure single sign-on (SSO) for SaaS applications
  • SecureD access to applications from BYOD devices
  • Simultaneous access to both on-premises applications and applications in multiple cloud environments
  • Monitoring mobile device security and protection against malicious websites
  • Easy, rights-based access management

Barracuda offers a broad and growing portfolio of cloud-enabled network and application security solutions. In July this year, Barracuda launched CloudGen WAN, a global SD-WAN service native to Microsoft Azure.

With the acquisition of Fyde, Barracuda now offers ZTNA solutions with an innovative approach to application and device security. This is done through access management based on user identity and contextual security rules for devices. With this acquisition, Barracuda expands the capabilities of its SASE platform to support companies in their migration to the public cloud.
