Barracuda Networks, Awingu Join Forces to Deliver Unified Workspace for Hybrid Cloud

Cloud-enabled networking, security and data protection solutions vendor Barracuda Networks has joined forces with Awingu, a provider of unified, browser-based workspace solutions. The new synergy would bring together Barracuda’s “high performance security and zero-touch” configuration with Awingu’s turnkey, browser-based workspace solution, facilitating the deployment of Awingu in hybrid cloud environments.

Barracuda NextGen Firewalls are purpose-built for securing cloud-connected networks. They would protect users, applications, and data while ensuring “secured and reliable” connections among multiple sites on-premises and in the cloud with consumption-based pricing.

Headquartered in Ghent, Belgium with offices in the U.S., Awingu provides unified, browser-based workspace solutions empowering users to work and collaborate from virtually anywhere using any HTML5 browser-capable device.

Awingu would bring platform agnostic mobility to deliver everything the enterprise needs in a workspace – legacy and cloud apps, documents, and data – to any device. This entails providing secured access to applications and files without the need to manage or expose vulnerable end-points. Applications and data can be hosted on Microsoft Azure or on-premise, and then “securely” connected to Awingu’s browser-based workspace.

“The combination of Awingu and Barracuda’s Next Gen Firewall is a unique opportunity for businesses to smoothly move into the Microsoft Azure cloud,” said Chris Dial, Director of Cloud ISVs, Microsoft.

“Synergics’ Mobility365 offering combines Awingu’s unified workplace and Barracuda NextGen firewall in the Microsoft Azure Cloud,” said Jochen Maertens, founder and CEO of Synergics. “This leverages the full potential of a cost-efficient and full-service online workplace. It brings what businesses of today expect: transparent pricing, best-in-class TCO, full mobility, full flexibility and optimized security. With Awingu, Barracuda and Microsoft Azure it’s easy to set up a hybrid cloud scenario for businesses that also want to move their legacy apps to the Cloud. They are filling a need for workspaces with zero-touch implementations, high-performance security and multi-tenancy architecture.”

Barracuda’s cloud-enabled solutions empower customers to protect their networks, applications and data, regardless of where they reside. These solutions are trusted by more than 150,000 organizations worldwide and are delivered in appliance, virtual appliance, cloud and hybrid deployment configurations.

“Our firewalls are engineered to be tightly integrated into the public cloud providers’ management fabric,” said Tim Jefferson, VP Public Cloud at Barracuda Networks. “This all comes from having a deep understanding of the unique technical and commercial requirements that security and development teams need in order to migrate security controls into their applications in a way that’s consistent with the cloud providers’ development best practices. When an organization migrates its’ applications to the public cloud, traditional on-premises firewall functionality often doesn’t translate well to public cloud environments. Our Cloud Generation Firewalls are designed to provide support for public cloud deployment best practices, support public cloud-specific use cases and facilitate you with a commercial model designed for public cloud consumption. This combination with Awingu’s simple platform agnostic workspaces provides SMB’s a secure and seamless way to migrate to the cloud.”
