Bitdefender, a global security software provider focused on delivering innovative solutions, has announced the availability of its Application Control / Whitelisting – a new technology that would limit exposure to malware and unknown threats in mission-critical environments.
The Application Control / Whitelisting technology would provide full visibility and control of applications installed or running on company endpoints. After creation of an inventory of trusted applications running on the endpoints, the new technology can be switched to Production mode to prevent the execution of any application not listed. Log analysis and reporting instruments would also offer crucial insights into endpoint events.
“The Application Whitelisting technology should now become the first layer of defense in any environment that relies on running the same set of applications over and over again, such as mission-critical servers, industrial control systems or HR / accounting department – the primary targets for ransomware or advanced persistent threats,” said Harish Agastya, VP of Enterprise Solutions at Bitdefender. “By the end of the year, the number of known malware samples will exceed 600 million, with growth of almost half a million every day. Application whitelisting prevents these threats from making it into your network, regardless of whether they are detected by the anti-malware defenses.”
With more than 450,000 unique malware samples a day, mostly targeted at infrastructure or departments that play key roles inside the organization, Bitdefender’s Application Control Whitelisting technology can allow IT managers to keep all threats at bay by default-denying the execution of unknown software.
Application Control Whitelisting is available in Bitdefender’s GravityZone Enterprise Security installation and can only be activated on Windows platforms. Bitdefender GravityZone is a security solution for physical, virtualized and hybrid environments. The GravityZone architecture would combine all the security services organizations need into a single delivery platform.
As a global security technology company, Bitdefender provides end-to-end cyber security solutions and advanced threat protection to more than 500 million users in more than 150 countries.
