Wasabi Technologies and IBM have joined forces to facilitate data creativity across mixed cloud platforms. The two tech companies aim to make it possible for businesses to operate apps across any location and enable users to access and use critical business data and insights in real-time at a low cost. The partnership would bring together the strengths of IBM Cloud Satellite and Wasabi hot cloud storage. The Boston Red Sox will be the first organization to benefit from this combined offering.

Both IBM Cloud and Wasabi prioritize providing their customers with reliability, speed, security, and regulatory skills. Wasabi hot cloud storage doesn’t charge users to view their data via API or exit, which, according to Wasabi, can help with cost consistency and customer savings. Incorporating cutting-edge security and controls regardless of where data is being gathered, processed, or shared, IBM Cloud Satellite’s hybrid cloud strategy can assist clients in managing cloud object storage and applications operating across platforms from a single control point.

The Boston Red Sox will use Wasabi hot cloud storage throughout their hybrid cloud infrastructure while experimenting with IBM Cloud Satellite to store data across Fenway Park, including player video, analytics, surveillance data, IoT, and more, and to bring the flexibility and agility of public cloud services to their secure on-premises data center.

“Our organization is prioritizing a cost-effective and scalable approach to leverage cloud technology,” said Brian Shield, Executive Vice President, and Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at Boston Red Sox. “The Red Sox have already benefited from the performance and cost reliability that Wasabi provides, and with the addition of IBM hybrid cloud technology, we hope to take our digital initiatives to the next level, all of which ultimately funnel back to delivering a best-in-class fan experience.”

“The Red Sox have already benefited from the performance and cost reliability that Wasabi provides, and with the addition of IBM hybrid cloud technology, we hope to take our digital initiatives to the next level,” said Brian Shield, EVP, and CTO at Boston Red Sox.

The partnership between Wasabi and IBM Cloud is expected to provide businesses across all sectors with expanded protected and open cloud services to help change processes and apps while controlling security in any setting. This offering would enable businesses to keep and retrieve their data wherever it may be – on-premises, in the cloud, or at the periphery.

David Friend, co-founder and CEO of Wasabi Technologies, said, “Organizations storing an enormous amount of data, including sports organizations, need to be able to store it in an affordable, accessible way without being locked into a single vendor with exorbitant fees. Working with IBM shows Wasabi’s commitment to the cloud storage market and provides our customers with a better method of managing their data across locations.”

This collaboration between Wasabi and IBM Cloud is expected to enable businesses to uncover game-changing insights from any environment, without sacrificing security or compliance. The partnership seeks to provide a cost-effective and scalable approach to leveraging cloud technology and delivering enhanced experiences for users.
