CDNsun, a provider of content delivery network services for gaming, live streaming, e-commerce and other Internet businesses, has chosen OnApp’s Federated CDN for building its global Content Delivery Network (CDN) business.
Using OnApp, CDNsun now offers content delivery at 70 locations across North and South America, Europe, Asia and Australia, by combining its own datacenters with hand-picked CDN Points-of-Presence (PoPs) from the 170+ locations available in the OnApp Federation – a global network of wholesale CDN and compute capacity.
The OnApp CDN platform provides CDNsun with a complete CDN software stack, which it uses to create high performance edge servers and storage servers in its own data centers. CDNsun can then extend its network with OnApp Federation infrastructure in 113 cities, across 43 countries, without having to build any of its own infrastructure. All CDNsun locations use solid state storage and premium bandwidth to deliver low latency and high throughput for customer websites, applications, files and streams.
Flexibility, Cost-Efficiency
Founded in 2012 and headquartered in the Czech Republic, CDNsun has a mission to deliver live video streams and video on-demand at affordable prices. The company chose OnApp for the flexibility and cost-efficiency of their CDN infrastructure.
“The OnApp Federation is a big part of our success at CDNsun, and has contributed significantly to our growth,” said David Pospisil, CEO and founder of CDNsun. “The scale and flexibility the OnApp Federation brings to our business is pretty amazing. It’s a pool of capacity you can use to jumpstart your service without building your own infrastructure. And, it’s a way to rapidly extend your own data center footprint, and market-test new locations before making the decision to build capacity in new regions. OnApp’s streaming capabilities are a big differentiator too, especially at the price point the federated model enables us to offer.”
