One of the main problems with SPAM is that messages are forged so they appear to originate from any domain name. This is known as email spoofing.

Sender Policy Framework (SPF) is a system designed to fight SPAM emails. SPF is a DNS TXT record which keeps track of the mail servers that are permitted to send email on behalf of your domain name.

The recipient of email from your domain can then check this SPF record to see if it’s from a server on your list. If the server isn’t listed the email can be discarded. This renders your domain less susceptible to email spoofing.

If your domain name is registered with Fasthosts you can add an SPF record to your domain name through your control panel.
