Check Point Adds Developer-first Security by Acquiring Israeli Startup

Check Point Software Technologies (NASDAQ: CHKP), a global provider of cybersecurity solutions, has acquired Spectral – an Israeli startup and innovator in developer-first security tools.

Check Point will augment its cloud solution, Check Point CloudGuard, with this developer-first security platform, allowing it to deliver the broadest variety of cloud application security use cases, including Infrastructure as Code (IaC) scanning and hardcoded secrets detection.

Founded in 2020 in Israel, Spectral is an innovator in developer security with a large open-source community. Spectral’s developer-first security strategy would prioritize code safety and trust, quick code scanning, and a “simple and cool” developer experience.

Check Point Software Technologies has signed into a binding agreement to purchase Spectral, which is scheduled to conclude soon. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. Spectral’s solutions will be instantly accessible as part of the CloudGuard product range.

Automated Code Security

The security tools from Spectral support a wide range of automated code security use cases, including:

  • Infrastructure as Code Scanning
  • Code Tampering Prevention
  • Hardcoded Secrets Detection
  • Source Controls and CI/CD Security
  • Source Code Leakage Detection 

Spectral’s solutions may be up and running in less than five minutes, and quick code scanning would provide complete and accurate findings in seconds. Developers from over 300 companies across the world utilize the tools.

Check Point’s Infinity security platform will be enhanced with Spectral technologies as part of its CloudGuard solution, providing for a complete security platform from code to cloud.
