DigitalOcean, one of the world’s fastest growing cloud hosting infrastructure providers built for developers, has appointed James Cariello as the company’s first chief technology officer (CTO). Recently transitioning from Google, Cariello will play an integral role in helping DigitalOcean expand their product portfolio, building highly scalable distributed systems.
For a company that’s been one of the fastest growing cloud startups, according to Mattermark’s growth score, CEO and Co-Founder Ben Uretsky emphasizes the importance of Cariello’s leadership as the company sets ambitious goals with their product roadmap.
“James has tremendous experience building robust network environments,” said Ben Uretsky. “Leveraging his experience, we’ll take innovative leaps in advancing DigitalOcean’s product set by providing advanced network, storage and compute features, while retaining simplicity as our core focus.”
James Cariello will also continue to build out a group of top engineers to help expand the company’s global footprint, with new data center regions being explored in various parts of the world. Coming soon is a data center in Germany, where there are currently over 350,000 developers using the cloud.
“We continue to strive toward becoming a world class engineering team that will change the infrastructure space for developers around the globe,” said James Cariello. “The technical challenges and the opportunity to innovate through them, coupled with our focus on building a tool that software developers love, is a big part of what attracted me to DigitalOcean.”
