Cloud Hosting Provider Linode Hires William Charnock as CTO from StackPath

Linode, a large global provider of cloud hosting infrastructure, has appointed Will Charnock as Vice President and Chief Technology Officer (CTO). Mr. Charnock was most recently CTO at StackPath.

According to Linode, William Charnock is a hands-on technical leader with nearly two decades of experience leading technical teams and scaling infrastructure across a variety of startups and global organizations. As Linode grows its cloud platform, William Charnock will head Linode’s engineering and development team, driving the company’s technological strategy and speeding product and service innovation.

Linode’s objective with this move is to improve its position as an alternative to big hyperscale cloud providers like Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud for developers, managed service providers (MSPs), and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

Prior to joining StackPath, Mr. Charnock worked at Fastly as the Senior Director of Network Strategy. He managed teams responsible for the design, implementation, and delivery of all network infrastructure for Limelight Networks as Vice President of Network Architecture and Engineering. Earlier in his career, Charnock managed IBM-owned SoftLayer’s successful growth into Asia and Europe.
