VPS.NET, a cloud hosting company with offices in the UK and Unites States, has launched a competition to give away a Samsung 840 EVO 1TB SSD in return for the confessions of tech workers around the world.
The competition has been launched as part of VPS.NET’s SysAdmin Day celebrations. For the past 15 years, SysAdmin day has been observed around the world, in homage to the great work that SysAdmins do everyday. This year it will take place on Friday July 25.
This year, VPS.NET will be stretching the day-long celebrations into a week of festivities. As part of this, they’re launching the competition, which will ultimately exchange the best SysAdmin confession for the Samsung prize.
“SysAdmins get taken for granted all year round,” said Rus Foster, director of cloud for VPS.NET. “A lot of our customers are SysAdmins, so there was never a doubt that we would celebrate this day. We launched the confessionals competition to give tech guys the chance to get a few things off their chest. We chose the Samsung prize, because it’s the sort of tech that could really make a SysAdmin’s life easier.”

The type of confessions that VPS.NET is looking for can be termed as face-palm moments. They’re looking for techies to reveal all about their experiences as SysAdmin that made them drop their head into their hands.
The competition opens on Monday July 20 and closes on Friday July 25 at 3pm EST. The winner, who is judged to have made the best confession by the VPS.NET SysAdmins, will be announced at 5pm on Friday July 25. To enter, techies must visit the SysAdmin Day landing page on VPS.NET’s website and fill in a form. Confessions can be made anonymously or by aliases, so no-one gets in trouble for spilling the beans.
