The Barracuda NextGen Firewall has achieved Amazon Web Services (AWS Cloud) Security Competency status. Barracuda NexGen Firewall joins the Barracuda Web Application Firewall, which achieved the same competency earlier in 2016. The new certification would make Barracuda one of the first Advanced Technology Partners in the AWS Partner Network (APN) to achieve two security competencies.
“The AWS Security Competency offers further validation that Barracuda Networks‘ Cloud Generation Firewalls provide customers with additional application security controls,” said Tim Jefferson, VP Public Cloud, Barracuda Networks. “In addition to the Competency, we’re continuing to expand our cloud generation capabilities with services like a true usage-based billing option, which helps customers align their infrastructure security plan with cloud consumption models. This is just one example, but it’s all about enabling customers to move fast while remaining secure.”
API Support for DevSecOps Teams
AWS is enabling scalable, flexible cloud solutions from startups to global enterprises. To support the seamless integration and deployment of these solutions, AWS established the AWS Competency Program to help customers identify APN Consulting and Technology Partners with deep industry experience and expertise.
Barracuda Cloud Generation Firewalls are engineered to provide network and application security for cloud-only and hybrid-cloud environments. These solutions would provide cloud-specific features including metered billing, API support for DevSecOps teams, fully meshed connectivity, and scalability to help organizations align security with their cloud deployments.
Barracuda Networks’ firewalls would deliver functionality including:
- Well-architected for the cloud – Integrate directly with cloud fabric, provide API integrations for DevOps tools and automation workflows, and centrally manage across on-premises and cloud environments. These features would provide customers with benefits of the cloud in addition to application security.
- Support for cloud-specific use cases – Support unique requirements of the cloud including horizontal scalability, distributed policy sets, meshed connectivity, and north-south traffic management. Meeting these requirements would allow customers to leverage the benefits of cloud automation around deployment, auto-scaling, high-availability, networking, and monitoring.
- Match customer’s cloud consumption models – Licensing that would allow customers to deploy security in alignment with their current public cloud consumption model.
