Cisco and Dimension Data Expand Partnership to Deliver Joint IaaS Cloud Hosting Services Worldwide

Dimension Data and Cisco will expand their 23-year partnership to deliver joint  infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) cloud hosting solutions that will be packaged with Cisco technology and software-as-a-service (SaaS) applications, including Microsoft SQL Server and SharePoint.

The global cloud hosting services are available via 10 of Dimension Data’s data centers around the world, with plans to expand to 13 data center locations by September 2014. The Cisco validated and co-branded cloud hosting solutions will also be sold by Cisco through the Cisco channel partner community.

cisco-intercloud“Over our 23 year relationship with Cisco, we have had many successes in the marketplace together and cloud is no exception,” said Brett Dawson, CEO of Dimension Data. “Dimension Data is proud to be the first global Intercloud partner. We have been providing cloud hosting services for many years and have developed a robust global cloud service – available across all continents. We are extremely excited to support Cisco and its partners in accelerating the market’s move to cloud hosting services.”

Cisco’s cloud strategy

More than 3,700 Cisco employees are now driving the execution of Cisco’s cloud strategy, including existing Cisco leaders such as Edison Peres, who has directed Cisco’s worldwide channel efforts for over 10 years and will lead the Cloud and Managed Services partner organization. Cisco states that it has also recently made key additions to its cloud organization from top cloud hosting providers, including Amazon, CenturyLink Technology Solutions, IBM, Microsoft and others.

“Since we introduced Cisco Cloud in late March, we have seen tremendous interest from our valued partners and customers, most of whom are interested in cloud environments that are open, highly secure, extensible, and enable data sovereignty,” said Rob Lloyd, President, Development and Sales, Cisco. “Furthermore, they are looking to Cisco for a network-centric approach to faster IT and cloud innovation. We are very pleased at the momentum we’ve generated thus far and have put a world-class team in place to enable our partners and customers to grow their businesses in a world of many clouds.”
