F5 Networks has announced that its BIG-IP application services are now available for vCloud Hybrid Service – VMware’s global hybrid cloud hosting service based on vSphere. With F5’s BIG-IP Global Traffic Manager validated in vCloud Hybrid Service, vCloud customers would be able to seamlessly manage application availability, performance and failover.
Using F5 BIG-IP Global Traffic Manager (GTM), customers can route traffic across hybrid, on-premises, and cloud hosting environments around the globe to keep pace with changing network conditions and user volumes for business needs.
Enterprise customers can now extend the same application delivery services they enjoy in the data center into this VMware-based cloud hosting environment. According to F5 Networks, global application availability, automation, and cloud bursting are enhanced with the joint solution, bolstering disaster recovery and business continuity efforts. Moreover, with this announcement, F5 offers certified capabilities within vCloud Hybrid Service environments.
“Maintaining application availability and performance while moving workloads to the cloud is key for a seamless user experience across a hybrid environment,” said Ajay Patel, Vice President of Application Services, vCloud Hybrid Service, VMware. “With F5’s BIG-IP Global Traffic Manager validated in vCloud Hybrid Service, our customers can seamlessly manage application availability, performance and failover.”
Benefits of F5 BIG-IP services running on vCloud Hybrid Service would include:
- Customers can extend F5’s Application Delivery Controller (ADC) services in the data center into the cloud without compromise.
- The solution enables global availability of applications between enterprise data centers and multiple vCloud Hybrid Service locations.
- Organizations would be able to enjoy seamless application failover, business continuity, and disaster recovery capabilities to provide high performance across enterprise data centers and hybrid cloud hosting environments.
“By making our solutions available for the VMware vCloud Hybrid Service, we’re offering customers a way to elegantly combine a comprehensive set of Software Defined Application Services that go far beyond just basic load balancing,” said Calvin Rowland, Vice President of Business Development, F5. “VMware is a significant technology partner for F5 Networks, as they provide a number of compelling ways for customers to increase the reach of the F5 Synthesis architecture model, and enable efficient automation and programmability throughout evolving IT environments.”
