Load Impact Introduces Cloud Hosting-based Performance Testing for Mobile Apps, APIs and Websites

Load Impact, a provider of testing services that detect, predict, and analyze performance problems, has introduced a cloud hosting-based load testing service for mobile apps, APIs and websites. The Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solution can simulate traffic generated from a variety of mobile operating systems, popular browsers, and mobile networks, including 3G, GSM and LTE.

Load Impact’s cloud hosting-based load testing service – also known as stress testing – for mobile apps, APIs and websites allows developers to emulate client behavior when downloading content to a phone, specify the number of concurrent downloads in total and per host, as well as the mix of different client applications or browsers, including Safari, Chrome, Firefox and Opera. 

Network delay, packet loss, jitter…

cloud-hosting-load-testDevelopers can also use Load Impact’s cloud hosting-based load testing services to emulate mobile network characteristics including available bandwidth, network delay, packet loss, jitter and packet reordering. All of the cloud hosting-based features may be accessed individually in Load Impact’s advanced configuration interface, or set automatically based on the mobile operating systems, browsers, and type of networks – GSM or CDMA 3G, 4G and LTE – being emulated.

With its roots in work for NASDAQ and the European Space Agency, Load Impact is headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden. Last year, the company opened its office in San Francisco while hiring industry veteran Charles Stewart as General Manager of U.S. operations. Stewart began his career in 1996 as director of Net Ops for Flycast Communications, a pioneering online application platform provider that was acquired by CMGI in 1999 for $1.4 billion.
