At Microsoft’s online conference, AzureCon, Verizon has announced that its Secure Cloud Interconnect service will now offer Microsoft ExpressRoute for Office 365, Microsoft Azure Government cloud, and Skype for Business.
Azure ExpressRoute for Office 365 and Skype for Business with SCI are now available in Microsoft’s Verizon’s Northern Virginia, San Jose, London and Hong Kong data centers.
Microsoft Azure Government complies with FedRAMP and FISMA requirements. This option is now available to Microsoft Azure customers in Microsoft’s data center in Northern Virginia with an additional site in Chicago planned to come online this fall.
Verizon’s private networking option, Secure Cloud Interconnect, would provide additional benefits and control to Microsoft Azure Government Cloud, Office 365 and Skype for Business customers, including consumption-based bandwidth, pre-provisioned on-demand resources, controlled application performance and varying classes of service.
Secure Cloud Interconnect is built on Verizon‘s Private IP network that offers any-to-any connectivity of IP, available in more than 170 markets around the globe.
“Verizon’s Secure Cloud Interconnect is fast becoming the premier choice for enterprises that are shifting workloads into the cloud,” said Shawn Hakl, vice president of enterprise networking and innovation for Verizon. “Microsoft cloud users will find this solution delivers an unbeatable combination of security, resiliency, application performance, simplicity and efficiency, while enabling a wide range of applications and use cases.”
Cloud Service Providers
Microsoft Azure uses Verizon’s Secure Cloud Interconnect to pre-provision wireless and IP data networking into the cloud service provider community to create a security-enhanced, high-performance environment.
With this service, Azure users would be able to maintain the security, consistency and reliability of their business cloud connections, without the need to expose data to the public Internet or to construct costly and time consuming custom network connections. In addition, Microsoft and Verizon’s interconnect service are built with redundant links to further increase the reliability of the solution.
