Cloud Solutions Provider Online Tech is Now Otava

Private, hybrid and multi-cloud solutions provider, Online Tech, has changed its name to Otava. The rebranding follows recent significant growth in Otava’s global footprint as both a channel-ready partner and an enterprise cloud solutions provider.

The expansion, driven in large part by securing the investment capabilities of Schurz Communications and acquiring the global cloud infrastructure assets of Neverfail in 2018, has resulted in strong momentum for Otava. The new name would position the company as “a unique leader in the IT market, backed by a support team committed to excellence.”

“The Online Tech name served us very well for 25 years, but as we continue to grow across the country and around the world, it is important to evolve the brand to better reflect our bold people, partnerships and purpose,” said Brad Cheedle, president and chief executive officer (CEO) of Otava. “Otava is a name that perfectly suits our company’s mission to continuously raise the bar in cloud services through our dedicated, client-focused support and operations teams.”

Otava provides cloud, colocation, data protection, disaster recovery (DR), security and professional services solutions to thousands of customers around the world. Its 12 locations span the United States, Europe and Australia, and each environment is independently audited against the highest security standards including SOC 2, PCI DSS, HIPAA, and EU-US Privacy Shield. All Otava solutions are accessible through the proprietary OTPortal – offering visibility and control across the entire IT environment from a single pane of glass.

New Logo and Name Explained

The word Otava means ‘to take a musical note an octave higher’ and in Finnish refers to ‘Ursa Major,’ one of the largest and brightest constellations in the night sky. In addition to the corporate name change, a new logo was revealed featuring a circle resting atop a gently arching line that is intended to represent the company’s rebirth and dedication to rising above all expectations. The tagline ‘expect exceptional,’ was also introduced as “evidence” of Otava’s commitment to deliver “exceptional experiences” to all current and future clients and channel partners.

“The Online Tech name served us very well for 25 years, but as we continue to grow across the country and around the world, it is important to evolve the brand to better reflect our bold people, partnerships and purpose,” said Brad Cheedle, president and CEO of Otava.

“Expect exceptional is more than a tagline; it’s a promise that our client-first, never-stop mindset is ingrained in our culture,” added Mr. Cheedle. “Everyone at Otava is passionate about the common purpose of providing service and results beyond anyone’s expectations. Our people drive and innovate the solutions that have allowed us to earn our customers’ trust by partnering to help them stay competitive in their industries.”

Launched as Online Technologies Corporation in 1994 as a regional dial-up Internet company, Otava has rapidly evolved into data center hosting and colocation services with a focus on cloud compliance and security. In 2011, Otava (then Online Tech) became one of the first ‘100-percent’ HIPAA-compliant cloud providers in the U.S. Today the company offers a wide range of fully managed IT services to businesses and managed service providers around the globe.
