CodiumAI, a startup delivering code integrity solutions, has emerged from stealth mode with the beta release of its generative AI-powered code integrity solution. The company has also announced an $11 million seed funding round co-led by Vine Ventures and TLV Partners, along with individual investors from OpenAI, Snyk, and VMware.

With this financing, CodiumAI is launching TestGPT, its initial AI model, aimed at creating software tests instantly, enhancing code quality, and giving developers the assurance they need to invent more quickly.

In 2020, shoddy software alone cost U.S. businesses $2.08 trillion, and the cost of fixing mistakes increases as they advance through the software development process. Testing would therefore be essential, but it can be challenging and time-consuming. With the release of CodiumAI’s AI-powered solution, TestGPT, the company aims to assist coders in getting rid of errors and writing code with assurance.

According to CodiumAI CEO Itamar Friedman, the company is developing creative AI to evaluate code reasoning as advancements such as ChatGPT and GitHub Copilot come together. The TestGPT model and CodiumAI IDE Extensions are the first steps towards the goal of making code integrity practical for all coders and for any code.

Since its closed-alpha debut in January 2023, hundreds of people have already loaded CodiumAI.

Investors such as TLV Partners and Vine Ventures have expressed their support for CodiumAI’s creative use of generative AI, which provides immediate value to consumers. Vine Ventures, in particular, has raised more than $243 million from two funds and several portfolio co-investments and has invested in 30 technology firms across the US, Israel, and Latin America.
