Cogent Sets Up PoP at HostDime’s Data Center in Guadalajara, Mexico

In hosting provider HostDime’s Tier III data center in Guadalajara, Mexico, Cogent Communications, one of the world’s leading network backbone providers, has implemented a network Point-of-Presence (PoP). Cogent’s extensive global network footprint would help improve Cogent’s on-net network presence in Mexico while providing better global connectivity options to HostDime’s Mexico clients.

With 210+ markets in 48 countries around the world, Cogent is a multinational, Tier-1 facilities-based ISP that has constructed one of the largest and highest capacity IP networks in existence.

Cogent’s addition to HostDime’s range of diversified connections from prominent bandwidth providers, carriers, and exchanges that flow into their Mexico data center location would strengthen the company’s lineup. The carriers in the demarc meet-me/PoP room can connect directly to the equipment racks from the source, bypassing all other network switches. This would add redundancy, lower latency in Mexico, and give the facility the option to swap carriers.

To achieve this high-performance routing within Mexico, Cogent has substantial peering and interconnectivity with all local major Mexico telecom providers, allowing it to reach “90 percent” of all end-users and organizations at lightning speeds.

“We are pleased to be able to provide Internet services to HostDime’s customers in Guadalajara,” said Vincent Teissier, Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) at Cogent Communications. “Reliable and scalable Internet connectivity will help ensure these companies can reach their customers across Mexico and the world.”

Guadalajara is Mexico’s second-largest metropolitan area. The edge data center in Guadalajara was built with the goal of providing Mexico with stable and scalable data center infrastructure at the lowest possible latency.

“We’re proud and honored to welcome Cogent on-net into our Guadalajara, Mexico data center,” said Manny Vivar, Chief Executive Officer & President of Global Operations at HostDime. “Cogent’s superior global network architecture and high interconnectivity in Mexico allows us to offer our clients exceptional connectivity at an unbeatable price. We look forward to continuing to expand this strategic partnership with Cogent across our entire fleet of global data centers.”

This isn’t the first time Cogent has teamed up with HostDime. HostDime has also put up a Cogent network PoP in their current Orlando data center. It plans to do the same in their forthcoming 100,000 square foot Orlando, Florida flagship data center, which will open in summer 2022.

HostDime provides carrier-neutral data centers strategically located across the world to meet the needs of localized data anywhere in the world. Enterprises seeking colocation in international locations can purchase only the space and power they require from the data center, while purchasing bandwidth directly from their preferred supplier.
