Global colocation solutions provider CyrusOne (NASDAQ: CONE) has announced that eight new telecom carriers and fiber providers have committed to deliver services via its new multi-tenant colocation facility located in Loudoun County, Northern Virginia – CyrusOne’s first East Coast data center. Committed companies include Level 3 Communications, tw telecom, Comcast, SummitIG, FiberLight, Lightower, Zayo and CenturyLink.
The first phase of the modular CyrusOne colocation facility in Northern Virginia, an area also known as “Data Center Alley”, is scheduled to open in the fourth quarter and includes a 124,000-square-foot shell with capacity for 60,000 square feet of raised floor space, 15,000 square feet of office space, and up to 12 megawatts of critical load.
240,000 square feet
Located on 14 acres the site in Northern Virginia is expected upon completion to accommodate a shell of approximately 400,000 square feet with up to 240,000 square feet of raised floor space, 36,000 square feet of Class A office space, and up to 48 MW of critical load. CyrusOne broke ground on the facility in early April 2014.

The CyrusOne National IX leverages low-cost connectivity to virtually link more than a dozen of CyrusOne’s colocation facilities and third-party locations in multiple metropolitan markets. The interconnectivity would enable Fortune 1000 enterprises to mix and match data centers to implement cost-effective production and/or disaster recovery platforms.
