Colocation Provider Datacenter.com Expands Its Amsterdam AMS01 Facility

Datacenter.com, a data center provider delivering ‘on-demand’ colocation services for hybrid solutions with a planned rollout of colocation data centers in strategic markets worldwide, has announced the development of an additional 50 percent of data center whitespace in Amsterdam. The expansion project will increase the available whitespace power by an additional 1,5MW.

“We are happy to see new and existing clients growing rapidly to almost a sell-out of the first phase of our Amsterdam facility within the first 12 months,” said Jochem Steman, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Datacenter.com.

Since its opening in November 2017, the first phase of this Datacenter.com AMS01 facility would now already accommodate a broad group of companies in a wide range of segments, such as digital media, gaming, cloud computing, network solutions, financial institutions and enterprises. Datacenter.com grabbed customer attention in the market by paying $500,000 to buy its domain, after which it established its first data center in Amsterdam, Datacenter.com AMS01. The data center expansion project is expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2019.

Built in several phases, Datacenter.com’s flagship data center in Amsterdam is located in the heart of the Amsterdam Southeast business district. This area features one of the highest fiber densities in the world. The data center will total 54.000 square feet (5.000 square meters) of colocation data center space upon completion. Phase 1 of this carrier neutral data center facility in Amsterdam counted 19.500 square feet (1.800 square meters) of net technical colocation space.

Calculated pPUE: 1.04

“Since the opening of our Amsterdam facility we have built a diversified customer base by offering low latency network connectivity combined with high capacity and flexible colocation solutions,” said Jochem Steman, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Datacenter.com.

“We are happy to see new and existing clients growing rapidly to almost a sell-out of the first phase of our Amsterdam facility within the first 12 months.

This new capacity and the additional possibility to expand with two extra data halls with up to 10MW additional IT load will add confidence that Datacenter.com can and will accommodate our clients’ growth plans.”

With a calculated pPUE of 1.04, Datacenter.com AMS1 is a highly energy efficient data center, with very limited power and cooling capacity required per unit of IT. The facility utilizes an advanced, patented indirect adiabatic cooling technology without the need for raised floors, while it also features the latest generation of highly energy efficient Uninterruptable Power Supply (UPS) systems. On top of that, Datacenter.com AMS1 is running entirely (100%) on green power generated from renewable resources. The company has been awarded an ISO 14001:2015 environmental certification among other certifications to provide their customers ultimate confirmation for sustainable operations.
