One of the newest AWS Direct Connect locations supporting the US East (Northern Virginia) Amazon Web Services (AWS Cloud) Region, 165 Halsey Street is a dedicated 1.2 million square foot colocation data center and telecom carrier hotel with over 80 MW of power.
Using AWS Direct Connect, customers can establish private connectivity between AWS Cloud and their corporate data center, office or colocation environment. According to the 165 Halsey Street company, this would provide users with the opportunity to reduce network costs, increase bandwidth throughput, and provide a more consistent network experience than Internet-based connections. Below are some additional service highlights of AWS Direct Connect:
- Speed & Privacy – AWS Direct Connect enables customers to establish private data connections to AWS that bypass the Internet. Avoiding public networks would improve performance, reduce costs, increase privacy and ensure consistent throughput.
- Reduces Bandwidth Costs – AWS Direct Connect would reduce network costs into and out of AWS Cloud in two ways. First, by transferring data to and from AWS directly, reducing bandwidth commitment to the Internet service provider. Second, while inbound data transfer to AWS Cloud is not charged, outbound data transfer from AWS would be charged at the reduced AWS Direct Connect data transfer rate rather than Internet data transfer rates.
- Compatible with all AWS Services – AWS Direct Connect is a network service, and works with all AWS services that are accessible over the Internet, such as Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3), Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2), and Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (Amazon VPC).
“As more enterprises seek to maintain the security and control of on-premises infrastructure and deploy hybrid clouds through direct interconnection, we are excited to meet this industry demand and provide our customers access to AWS Direct Connect,” said Joseph Simone, President at Tishman Real Estate Services for 165 Halsey Street. “With the introduction of AWS Direct Connect, our customers can immediately benefit from dedicated, high performance, private access to their AWS applications and workloads across the globe.”
Located just 13 miles from Manhattan, 165 Halsey Street offers space, power and interconnection to over 60 U.S. and global network operators. 165 Halsey Street is carrier-neutral, SSAE 16-certified, and independently owned and operated.
