Cybersecurity Firms Surfshark and Nord Security Announce Merger

The purpose of this merger is to pool resources toward similar goals while maintaining both organizations’ independence.

Nord Security and Surfshark, two cybersecurity businesses, have agreed to join to strengthen their positions in the digital security and privacy protection markets. The combination would create new prospects for technical knowledge sharing and market diversification. Both businesses will continue to operate independently, with their own infrastructure and product roadmaps.

Nord Security is home to innovative security solutions such as VPN service NordVPN, password manager NordPass, encrypted cloud storage NordLocker, and network access security solution NordLayer, as well as Atlas VPN, a freemium VPN provider. Founded in 2012, Nord Security today employs over 1,000 people and services 15 million users throughout the world.

Surfshark, which employs over 200 people, aims to provide clients with the most up-to-date ways of controlling their online appearance by merging multiple cybersecurity solutions into one spot. The Surfshark One package includes a VPN, an antivirus, a private search tool, and a data leak detection system alert.

The signing of the inked agreement brings the process to a close, which began in mid-2021. After analyzing the present industry landscape and synergies, both firms came to the same conclusion. This collaboration would give the companies more clout in their joint effort to protect people’s digital lives.

Financial details of the merger were not disclosed as both companies are privately owned entities.

Streamlining Company Resources

The purpose of this merger is to pool resources toward similar goals while maintaining both organizations’ independence. This business decision, according to the founders, will act as a springboard for more fast expansion and innovation while keeping the individuality of both brands.

The combination of Nord Security and Surfshark would strengthen both organizations’ products in several market areas while also broadening their geographic reach. Both organizations will continue to create unique solutions to address many aspects of cybersecurity, such as personal data protection, device security, file security, and so on.
