BT, one of the world’s largest providers of communication services and solutions active in 180 countries, has launched its Security Advisory Services today – marking the next step in the ongoing expansion of its cybersecurity capabilities. The new service offers organizations around the world guidance on strategic security activities. It would meet the need for expert guidance while customers navigate today’s complex cybersecurity landscape.

Approximately 300 specialized employees make up BT Security Advisory Services, led by Tris Morgan. They are supported by the broader BT Security team. This team protects BT from 125,000 cyberattacks per month and provides security solutions to consumers, governments and businesses, including some of the world’s best-known brands.

The new service helps organizations at all stages of the cybersecurity process to assess and test security activities. Together, they’ll help find the solution that best fits an organization’s needs – whether it requires developing an entirely new security strategy or upgrading their protection to combat the latest threats and trends.

“The establishment of the Advisory Services practice is the next step in BT Security’s strategy. It recognizes that the optimal way to secure an organization requires a continuous and strategic evolution of their security posture,” said Kevin Brown, Managing Director of BT Security. “Tris brings a wealth of experience in providing advanced cyber solutions and guidance to both the public and private sectors. This makes him the right person to give the strategic direction that organizations are looking for”.

“The establishment of the Advisory Services practice is the next step in BT Security’s strategy. It recognizes that the optimal way to secure an organization requires a continuous and strategic evolution of their security posture,” said Kevin Brown, Managing Director of BT Security.

The BT cybersecurity services are divided into four main categories: cyber threat; zero trust; governance, risk & compliance; and cloud security. Each category provides a range of solutions to today’s security issues and helps customers prepare for the major new technologies and challenges of the future. The services are made available to small and medium-sized enterprises as well as multinationals and government organizations.

The Advisory Services practice also offers solutions that address a number of geographical and industry-specific challenges, such as companies looking to securely expand into fast-growing markets, or companies looking to securely take advantage of increased automation and IoT. BT Security’s ethical hacking team also plays a role in the new service and offers penetration testing for customers who want to test their security robustly.

BT Security’s ethical hacking team offers ‘penetration testing’ or ‘red team’ services, using the same tools and techniques used in cybercrime to attack organizations’ defenses and identify vulnerabilities. BT’s ethical hacking services are available to customers who want to test their security against various ‘risks’ and then receive strategic advice on how to address both existing and potential future security issues.
