Multi-cloud expert organization UKCloud, a cloud expert provider aiming its services at the UK public sector, is now embedding their CyberScore tool into its portfolio of core capabilities – in order to help organizations improve their cyber security health.

“Here at UKCloud, we use CyberScore internally to ensure that we are continually aware of our cyber posture and stay on top of risks,” said Leighton James, CTO of UKCloud.

CyberScore is a vulnerability scanning and reporting tool from XQ Cyber providing feedback on the cyber resilience of IT systems. CyberScore gathers data about an organization and interprets it, to present a view of its security posture. The introduction of CyberScore is the first in a new line of capabilities designed to enable UKCloud customers to get a better handle of their IT estate in a multi-cloud world.

“Here at UKCloud, we use CyberScore internally to ensure that we are continually aware of our cyber posture and stay on top of risks,” said Leighton James, CTO of UKCloud.

“We identified that many of our customers face similar challenges and wanted to make this easy to use tool available to deploy across our multi-cloud platform. It marks the start of exciting new capabilities being made available to our customers to help meet the new challenge facing operations teams in the cyber and operations space.”

CyberScore is a “fully automated, rapid, and scalable” cyber security testing and rating service which would enable users to discover their cyber security ‘score’ and generate “high quality” reports that help communicate and remediate vulnerabilities around their organization and throughout the supply chain.

Network Vulnerabilities

The new CyberScore service provides a score based on the state of the vulnerabilities within a network and identifies key remediations and ranks and rates vulnerabilities so that an organization can decide on an acceptable level of cyber risk. This score than acts as guidance for how vulnerable a network is, considering various factors such as the number, severity and nature of vulnerabilities found. The tool allows organizations to start getting the basics right in ensuring that the health of their environment is understood – and provides easy to understand remediation guides for local IT teams to execute.

“If you or your partners are running obsolete software – CyberScore will let you know. If you’re running supported software that is missing lots of security fixes, CyberScore will flag it and include it in your Get-Well Plan,” said David Carroll, CEO at XQ Cyber, the company delivering the CyberScore solution to UKCloud. “It will tell you where all your vulnerabilities are, which ones are the most important, either because of their nature or their prevalence, and it will tell you what to do about them.”
