CyrusOne, a real estate investment trust specializing in carrier-neutral data center properties, broke ground last week on the first phase of their newest colocation data center campus in North Texas. The project is the first to be constructed by the company from the ground-up and is located near the intersection of Stacy Road and Chelsea Boulevard in Allen, Texas.
The site’s first colocation data center will total 340,000 square feet and upon completion, the campus’ three data centers will offer more than 100 megawatts of available power. The Allen facility will bring CyrusOne’s total colocation footprint in Texas to over 1.7 million square feet.
According to CyrusOne, the new site represents the next step in the company’s long-term expansion plan and was selected because of its proximity to Dallas, access to energy sources and high-speed connectivity capabilities.
CyrusOne is operating 40 data centers worldwide, “protecting and ensuring” continued operation of IT infrastructure for nearly 1,000 customers, including 190 Fortune 1000 companies and nine of “the top 10” cloud providers.
