Global data center colocation, interconnection services and bare metal services provider, Cyxtera, will lease Prime Data Centers’ new 9MW data center in Santa Clara, California, which is presently under construction. Cyxtera is a global provider of retail colocation and bar metal services, with more than 60 data centers located in 29 markets.
In October of 2020, Prime initially revealed plans for this turnkey data center. Prime Data Centers recently began construction on this four-story data center facility located in the heart of Silicon Valley. The finished renovation will raise the total square footage of the facility to about 121,000 square feet.
Cyxtera has leased the whole facility space from Prime Data Centers, bolstering its data center colocation portfolio. This facility will be equipped with “cutting-edge” technology to ensure that “efficiency and cost-effectiveness” are among the finest in the world.
“Adding a company with the global reach and resources of Cyxtera to Prime’s customer list advances our mission of fostering strong partnerships in the industry,” said Jeff Barber, Executive Vice President Sales and Marketing at Prime Data Centers. “Prime strives to develop creative and transparent partnerships such as this, where both parties can realize not only economic benefits but also gain efficiencies via unique and flexible contract structures designed to support the specific needs of the tenant.”
Bare Metal Services
In March, Cyxtera expanded its bare metal services into Europe by deploying infrastructure in data centers in Amsterdam and Frankfurt. In the North American market, Cyxtera recently expanded its bare metal services offerings to Denver and Toronto.
As a wholesale data center developer and operator, Prime Data Centers constructs, acquires, and manages wholesale facilities for big companies and hyper-scalers as well as retail colocation providers. Prime Data Centers is a private company controlled by a group with $6 billion in assets and a 15-year history in technology and real estate.
Prime Data Centers is growing its worldwide presence with current data center projects in the United States and Europe, in addition to three strategic locations throughout California.
