Meebox, a Danish cloud hosting provider, is now running its brand Cloud.dk – one of Scandinavia’s largest public cloud deployments – on OnApp’s Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) cloud platform. Meebox chose OnApp Cloud for its complete feature set, as well as the ability to benefit from the huge scale of the OnApp Federation – a global network of service providers.
Meebox migrated to OnApp to overcome stability and scalability issues with its previous cloud hosting platform. Working with the OnApp Professional Services team, and using specially-developed migration tools, Meebox migrated more than 700 Virtual Servers from its previous platform into OnApp, and is now focusing on the next phase of its growth. The company is expanding Meebox.net with a range of new bare-bones cloud VPS services and scaling up the public cloud services available through Cloud.dk. Meebox also plans to tighten the integration between OnApp and its VMware-based managed cloud hosting services.

Meebox already used the OnApp Federation to power its CDN services, and to sell capacity from its own OnApp CDN Point of Presence (PoP) in Copenhagen. Meebox will extend this with federated compute services through the upcoming OnApp compute federation, which will enable its customers to deploy applications at scale on multiple clouds around the world, through one control panel. The company also plans to contribute its own compute PoPs to the OnApp Federation, beginning with a Copenhagen location for use in Cloud.net’s current open beta.
