Euronext Paris listed company Legrand further expands its global data center technology offerings by completing another acquisition and adding Universal Electric Corporation (UEC) to its family of data center brands. UEC is a global provider and developer of flexible, customizable power distribution systems, and manufacturer of the STARLINE and U-S Safety Trolley suites of products.

UEC immediately becomes part of Legrand, North and Central America’s Data, Power and Control division along with several other global data center brands that include Server Technology, Raritan, AFCO, Electrorack, and Ortronics.

Last year, Legrand was listed as one of the major data center technology vendors in 451 Research’s report ‘By the numbers: Some of the largest datacenter technology suppliers return to growth.’ In the report, the global research and advisory firm positioned the world’s largest data center technology suppliers based on data center-related sales. Legrand was given the highest rating of ‘leader’ in the power distribution unit (PDU) category, “owing in part to its strategic acquisitions, including rack PDU market leaders Raritan and Server Technology.”

Data Center Solutions Leader

Over the past several years Legrand has grown both organically and through acquisitions to gain this position in the data center market. The acquisition of Universal Electric Corporation will add to the leadership position of Legrand in data center power distribution.

“Legrand has enjoyed significant growth in the data center market by focusing on best-of-breed product offerings,” said John Selldorff, President and CEO of Legrand, North and Central America. “As a global leader in customizable power solutions, Universal Electric Corporation’s award-winning products have revolutionized electrical power distributing in data centers, and perfectly complement our other brands in this business.”

Over the past several years Legrand has grown both organically and through acquisitions to gain this prominent position in the data center market. The acquisition of Universal Electric Corporation will significantly add to Legrand’s capabilities in the data center power distribution market.

Founded in 1924, UEC has been providing innovative electrical power solutions for the data center, retail, health care, higher education and industrial markets across the U.S. and around the world. Universal Electric Corporation’s Starline and U-S Safety Trolley electrical power distribution products have been delivered to data centers, industrial manufacturing facilities, retail chains and grocery stores worldwide.
