Among the New York Public Library’s rare and important documents is a surprisingly large collection of around 50,000 historical menus. Faced with problems of storing, archiving, and sharing this huge catalog, the 125-year-old library turned to digital tools enabled by the AWS cloud to figure out how to make these treasures easily accessible around the world.
In this episode of Disrupting Within, we find that this new accessibility has inspired a new generation of users, like acclaimed restaurateurs Jody Williams and Rita Sodi, who are now using the menus to make the old appealing again.
Please note: This episode was filmed before the COVID-19 pandemic.
