DreamHost, a U.S. web hosting and cloud provider founded in 1997, has announced the immediate availability of Solid State Drives (SSDs) on its shared web hosting accounts. After adding SSDs to its Virtual Private Servers just four months ago and seeing both speed gains of up to 200% and favorable feedback from users, the next steps were clear.
WordPress users in particular would demand peak performance from their web hosting, and the shared web hosting speed boost that SSDs provide should be particularly noticeable to anyone who uses WordPress regularly.
“We want our customers’ websites to be successful,” said Kathy Brahm, DreamHost’s VP of Shared Hosting. “Accelerating their sites’ performance with SSDs was the quickest, best way to do that.”
The announcement follows the news that Dreamhost launched its DreamSpeed CDN. The content delivery network is powered by Fastly, a global CDN platform that features Varnish Control Language (VCL), all-SSD storage, multi-core CPUs, as well as 10Gb Ethernet.
