CDN and edge computing technology provider, EDJX, has signed a partnership with colocation and interconnection services provider, Cyxtera. EDJX will start offering its latest innovation through the Cyxtera Marketplace network fabric in three initial markets, with several others to follow including Santa Clara, CA, Dallas, TX, and Weehawken, NJ.
The EDJX and Cyxtera partnership would help solve the challenge of compute bottlenecks. Legacy serverless and CDN solutions depend on compute being located in a few points of presence. This can limit the potential to accelerate code and data for IoT apps. EDJX is distributed, meaning that the compute will be distributed to many points of presence and doesn’t require the same capital investment.
The roll out across Cyxtera data centers will feature EdjBlock, a new solution launched by EDJX and its innovation partners ITRenew and Virtual Power Systems (VPS). This specific distributed CDN solution would make it easy to bring workloads and applications closer to end-users and connected things. EdjBlock is a pre-integrated edge computing infrastructure. It would enable rapid deployment and monetization of distributed CDN and edge computing services for EDJX customers and partners on the EDJX platform. The first three EDJX solutions available in Cyxtera’s colocation facilities will be fully operational by December 2020.
“Cyxtera is focused on delivering the diversity of innovative infrastructure solutions that meet the demands of today’s enterprise customers,” said Holland Barry, Senior Vice President and Field CTO, Cyxtera. “We see tremendous potential in rolling out a truly global edge computing platform in our data centers in partnership with EDJX. We believe this partnership will enable customers that require infrastructure closer to end users to deliver the kind of efficiency that can make a meaningful difference in their business performance.”
The EDJX Serverless Platform
ITRenew is equipping the EdjBlock platform with flexible Sesame by ITRenew rack-scale compute and storage solutions that would make it easier to scale efficiently and achieve sustainability goals. EdjBlock systems also include Software Defined Power control from industry pioneer Virtual Power Systems (VPS) – to optimize uptime and efficiency.
“To process data at the edge, the future of IoT is going to require more compute infrastructure than the industry has ever conceived, which will have a profound impact on the planet in the form of industrial manufacturing and e-waste,” said John Cowan, EDJX founder and CEO. “EDJX is building a sustainable edge; a software-enabled planet-scale platform that combines the EDJX serverless platform with integrated rack-scale server solutions by ITRenew, equipped with VPS Ice Switches, enabling software defined power that will run in any data center.”
