ElasticON Global Customer Session: Adelean, Session 2

Session Title: Searching through large graphs at scale using Elasticsearch

Since 1995, the National Audiovisual Institute (INA) has been responsible for archiving over 180 radio and television services as the premier repository of all French audiovisual archives. Generated metadata for this body of content represents over 50 million documents (images, audio and video fragments, text excerpts). Due to its heterogeneity, the data model the INA uses is directly inspired from conceptual models of cultural heritage–represented by a large graph with complex relations between generic entities. The challenges of building a global search engine for this particular use case is twofold: indexing speed and implementing complex full text search capabilities with high performance. This presentation outlines the key choices and the technical framework INA used to be successful using Elasticsearch at scale.
