Equinix Promotes Jon Lin to EVP and GM of Its Data Center Services

Global data center colocation and interconnection provider, Equinix, has announced the appointment of Jon Lin to the position of Executive Vice President (EVP) and General Manager (GM of Data Center Services, effective immediately. Mr. Lin will be responsible for boosting the performance of Equinix’s data center services portfolio in this newly formed job role.

Jon Lin will be responsible for product management and the accompanying software engineering teams supporting Equinix’s portfolio of data center solutions. He will work closely with Equinix’s global and regional leadership to coordinate resources across the company. His efforts will be aimed at continuing Equinix’s global footprint expansion; extending the company’s leadership in catalyzing the world’s critical digital ecosystems; and driving scaling and efficiency programs to meet Equinix’s long-term margin expansion targets.

Since joining Equinix in 2009, Jon Lin has held a number of positions, the most recent of which was President, Americas. He was in charge of Equinix’s regional management, strategy, and growth plan in the Americas, which included operations in Brazil, Canada, Colombia, and the United States.

Mr. Lin was formerly Vice President, Americas Regional Corporate Development, where he led one of the company’s largest deals, the $3.6 billion purchase of 29 data centers from Verizon in 2017. He also played a key role in Equinix’s acquisition of Infomart Dallas in 2018, in addition to directing the integration of Verizon’s data center assets into Equinix.

Jon Lin was Senior Director of Regional P&L for the Equinix Americas Southeast area before joining the Equinix Corporate Development team. Equinix stated it became the region’s fastest-growing provider during his tenure, gaining market share, sales, and client count.

Mr. Lin joined Equinix as Director of Innovation in 2009, where he was responsible for identifying and developing existing and future products, as well as assisting in the design of Equinix’s platform strategy. He was later moved to Director, Corporate Strategy, where he was key in the creation of Equinix Cloud Exchange, which is now known as Equinix Fabric and forms the cornerstone of the company’s core interconnection services.

Prior to Equinix, Mr. Lin worked at Tata Communications as Director of the Advanced Solutions Group. He also worked for Verizon Enterprise Solutions in a range of capacities, including Product Strategy, Sales, and Consulting Services.
