Canadian data center provider eStruxture has announced the official opening of its second data center in Calgary, CAL-2. With approximately 93,000 square feet of space and 20 MW of power, the Tier III designed CAL-2 facility is one of the largest colocation data centers in the Calgary area and brings true hyperscale capacity to the market.

The facility is interconnected to eStruxture’s CAL-1 facility via a fully-diverse fiber ring, providing customers with diverse, highly available, secure, and cost-effective connectivity solutions.

Todd Coleman, President and CEO of eStruxture, stated that the new data center opening is a key milestone for the company, with Calgary becoming one of Canada’s critical data center hubs. He added that this new facility is an example of their unwavering commitment to growing their business in Canada and continuing to invest in sustainable and efficient state-of-the-art facilities.

The eStruxture CAL-2 facility is the next step in the development of an interconnected ecosystem of network carriers and cloud service providers (CSPs) for the Calgary region. The facility uses the same waterless, free-cooling system present in the company’s state-of-the-art MTL-2 facility in Montreal. This would help support the company’s mission to elevate its environmental stewardship with energy-efficient infrastructure and resources.

According to the data center operator, eStruxture’s CAL-2 facility is expected to attract some of the largest technology companies to the Calgary area, which might benefit businesses by increasing their reach while maximizing the speed and reliability of their networks. The company claims that with the addition of CAL-2, Calgary is becoming one of Canada’s critical data center hubs. eStruxture is committed to further growing its business in Canada and investing in sustainable and efficient state-of-the-art facilities.
