IT Systems integrator, Forsythe Technology, has announced that its new subsidiary, Forsythe Data Centers, will debut their new Retail+ colocation model, at the upcoming Gartner Data Center, Infrastructure & Operations Management Conference from December 2 to 5, 2014 in Las Vegas.
“The new Retail+ model features fully private, hard-wall client suites typically found at wholesale facilities, with the flexibility and modularity found in retail facilities,” said Steve Harris, Forsythe Data Centers’ vice president of data center development. “In addition, these private and secure suites have the added benefits of client-controllable suite infrastructure, scalable power densities and floor space, and operational efficiency options. In one of our Retail+ private suites, our clients will feel like this is their data center within a data center.”
Forsythe Data Centers’ Chicago-area colocation facility will be ready for occupancy in spring 2015. The new facility is a 221,000-square-foot data center in Elk Grove Village, Ill. Here, Forsythe can help clients plan, procure, finance, build, test, migrate, house and manage IT infrastructure in one location. The technology data center will also house Forsythe’s Technology Evaluation Center and Forsythe’s Integration and Configuration Center.
Forsythe has designed its new colocation facility to comply with U.S. Green Building Council LEED certification standards. Forsythe also expects to obtain Tier III certification from the Uptime Institute.
Scalable colocation environment
“Our Retail+ model is scalable to help our clients expand their data center capabilities, in terms of power and space requirements, as their companies grow,” added Harris. “We have been helping our clients design and build data centers and develop requests for proposal (RFPs) for colocation spaces for more than a decade. Now, we are combining the best features of wholesale and retail colocation offerings, to create an entirely new data center market we call Retail+, which addresses the needs of our clients.”
Founded in 1971, Forsythe is one of the largest, independent IT integrators in North America, serving approximately 1,000 U.S. and Canada-based companies. Forsythe is privately held and 100-percent employee-owned, with nearly 1,000 employees in 40 locations.
