German Hosting Provider Hetzner Adds Second U.S. Location

In Hillsboro, Oregon, just outside of Portland, German hosting and cloud provider Hetzner has established its second U.S. location for cloud products. Hillsboro is a prime location for future growth. Hillsboro, Oregon is an integral part of the ‘Silicon Forest’ region in the U.S. Pacific Northwest, which has a long history of technological innovation and is home to many well-known IT companies.

“The strategic location of Hillsboro is very exciting for us. We already have a location on the East Coast with Ashburn, and now, with Hillsboro, we can provide a better connection to our cloud customers on the West Coast,” said Sebastian Willer, Project Manager at Hetzner. “Plus, Hillsboro’s proximity to important submarine cables between North America and Asia.”

To ensure quick data exchange, the Hetzner’s network connection is 400 Gbit/s right now, and the company will gradually increase it in the future.

AMD Processors

In Ashburn, Virginia, hosting provider Hetzner opened its first location outside of Europe just one year ago. Clients now have a choice of five sites in Europe and North America, enabling them to geo-redundantly store their cloud data and so strengthen their IT infrastructure.

Customers will automatically have access to all Hetzner Cloud capabilities at the new site in Hillsboro, which will house Hetzner Cloud servers outfitted with AMD processors. Users may mount or remove additional resources like block storage and snapshots, create and deploy new cloud instances, access services round-the-clock, and scale their cloud resources up or down to match their hourly demands with just a few clicks.

As one of the biggest data center operators in Europe, Hetzner Online runs hundreds of thousands of servers. Since its foundation in 1997, Hetzner has increased its market share both inside and outside of Germany and Europe. The German hosting provider owns and runs high-tech data centers in Nuremberg, Falkenstein, Helsinki, Finland, and most recently in the United States.
