GTT Deploys New Network PoP in Portland, Oregon with Ziply Fiber

A new network Point-of-Presence (PoP) has been established by GTT Communications and Ziply Fiber to serve the rapidly expanding data center industry in Portland, Oregon. Customers in the Pacific Northwest area of the United States are receiving an initial 400G of capacity from the new network PoP.

By giving customers a second way to connect in 11 significant data centers and the Hillsboro subsea cable landing station, the new network PoP would increase the strength of GTT’s global Tier 1 IP network and broaden its reach via Ziply Fiber’s high-count Silicon Forest fiber cross connection service.

One of the biggest in the business, GTT’s global Tier 1 IP backbone connects more than 260 locations across six continents. The new Portland PoP would allow GTT clients in the area to take advantage of the enhanced connection, security, and scalability provided by GTT’s array of managed connectivity services.

“This new PoP deployment creates an exciting opportunity to use the Ziply Fiber network to allow our regional data center customers to easily connect to and take advantage of GTT’s global Tier 1 IP network and our full suite of managed services offerings,” said Jim Delis, President, Americas Division, GTT. “Our work with Ziply Fiber demonstrates GTT’s continued focus on investment to expand the reach of our network for customers with locations in the Pacific Northwest.”

Managed Networking and Security

The Ziply Fiber network is completely redundant, with a twin architecture that keeps up client connections even when problems occur, and it was designed to meet the rising digital needs of today. With redundancies built into its network to prevent service outages and updated routing to reduce congestion over the wider Internet, Ziply Fiber maintains a four-state footprint across Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Montana. This would guarantee that content may be accessed more rapidly and directly on the fiber backbone.

“We are pleased to expand our partnership with GTT to establish a new network PoP in Portland to help customers in the region and beyond to connect to area data centers as well as other geographies,” said Mike Daniel, Vice President of Enterprise Sales at Ziply Fiber. “Our regional fiber network, combined with GTT’s global Tier 1 network and suite of leading managed networking and security services, will give enterprises new options to improve connectivity securely and reliably.”
