Hawaii’s Servpac Data Center Achieves Uptime Institute Tier IV Certification

Servpac

Hawaii-based Servpac Cloud Data Center is the first colocation facility in the state to receive the prestigious Uptime Institute Tier IV Certification of Constructed Facility. This award would demonstrate Servpac’s dedication to supporting mission-critical operations and reinforces its dedication to providing superior data center services.

Uptime Institute, a global authority on digital infrastructure, conducted a thorough analysis of the MTP Data Center, a 30,000-square-foot facility located in Mililani Technology Park. The certification procedure included an exhaustive evaluation of the data center’s design and a thorough on-site functional test to ensure that it met the highest standards for availability, performance, and resilience.

Officially receiving the Tier IV Certification would indicate that the MTP Data Center has fault tolerance, which safeguards mission-critical IT operations in the event of equipment failure or interruptions to the distribution path. By mitigating the effects of such incidents, the center would ensure service continuity and seamless maintenance and response procedures.

Data Center Redundancy

The arduous certification process began more than a year ago and involved rigorous testing of the infrastructure capabilities of the colocation data center. Multiple independent power and cooling systems, dual-powered equipment, redundant power distribution paths, continuous refrigeration, and substantial on-site power generation capabilities at the MTP Data Center were all evaluated. The facility not only met but also exceeded all of the Uptime Institute’s essential infrastructure requirements.

Vice President of North America for the Uptime Institute, Matt Stansberry, praised MTP Data Center by Servpac for its commitment to instituting best practices for mission-critical operations, expressing his satisfaction with the partnership. Mr. Stansberry emphasized that MTP Data Center’s accomplishment set a precedent in Hawaii and congratulated the team on their merited success.

The MTP Data Center launched in 2020 in response to the rising demand for reliable data storage solutions among local businesses. Given Hawaii’s unique susceptibility to natural calamities such as hurricanes, tsunamis, and sea-level rise, the need for an up-to-date and geographically secure data center had been obvious for over a decade.

The Tier IV Certification is the result of years of hard work and the establishment of a cutting-edge data center in the region, stated Richard Zheng, President and Founder of Servpac.

The President and Founder of Servpac, Richard Zheng, has expressed his commitment to improving Hawaii’s digital infrastructure. The Tier IV Certification is the result of years of hard work and the establishment of a cutting-edge data center in the region. Mr. Zheng emphasized the significance of giving local organizations access to cutting-edge technology comparable to that available on the U.S. mainland. By nurturing a diverse digital ecosystem and attracting major cloud actors and application providers to Hawaii, businesses and organizations can gain access to their critical data more quickly and securely.

Looking forward, Servpac has already initiated preparations for Phase 2 of the MTP Data Center. This expansion will occupy an additional 150,000 square feet of land and provide a tenfold increase in cabinet and electrical capacity, according to estimates.

Uptime Institute’s Tier Standard

MTP Data Center by Servpac is one of the largest locally-owned cloud data centers in Hawaii, providing sophisticated independent and redundant features to ensure the resilience of businesses. Located in Mililani Tech Park at an altitude of 850 feet above sea level, the colocation data center would offer the highest protection for mission-critical data with its exceptional geographical security.

Over the past 25 years, Uptime Institute, the Global Digital Infrastructure Authority, has established benchmarks for data center performance, resilience, sustainability, and efficiency. Its Tier Standard is probably the most trusted and extensively adopted data center design, construction, and operation standard in the world. Through its extensive selection of certifications, assessments, research services, and training courses, Uptime Institute has assisted tens of thousands of businesses in optimizing their mission-critical IT assets.
