Hillstone Networks, a provider of network firewall solutions, has announced a partnership with Mirantis, a pure play OpenStack cloud company. Hillstone Networks has made available their data center security appliance as a Firewall-as-a-Service (FWaaS) solution within the Mirantis OpenStack environment.
With this joint offering, customers who rely on Mirantis’ cloud environment for production deployment of OpenStack at scale can secure their network with a plug-in from Hillstone Networks. The FWaaS provides protection for OpenStack-based public and private clouds. Tenants can now use their cloud services “securely” through network isolation and policy protection.
As part of this effort, Hillstone Networks joins the Mirantis Unlocked Technology Partner Program, to ensure seamless support and experience for their joint customers through automated configuration, deployment and integration.
“Hillstone Networks provides the high-performance firewall appliance for data center environments now certified with the Mirantis OpenStack,” said Mirantis VP of Product Marketing, Kamesh Pemmaraju. “We look forward to working with Hillstone to further automating the solution to drive cloud agility balanced with advanced security.”
Hillstone Networks provides “high-performance” data center firewall solutions which can be deployed at the perimeter of the data center to secure North-South traffic. With Hillstone FWaaS Plugin Driver deployed with Mirantis OpenStack, OpenStack administrators can configure firewall policies through the FWaaS plugin. The policies will then be pushed to the Hillstone firewall appliance automatically.
The Hillstone FWaaS Solution would protect the cloud platform and ensure business continuity with comprehensive security protection which is far beyond OpenStack Security Group and FWaaS rules. It would also optimize administration to provide simplified management of cloud security to users. The solution is suitable for carriers, Internet Service Providers (ISPs), business park, higher education and many other types of businesses. The joint firewall solution is available here.
“The joint solution with Mirantis addresses today’s cloud-based data centers’ security challenges that cannot be resolved with traditional security architectures,” said Lingling Zhang, VP of Products at Hillstone. “The partnership offers our customers the peace of mind to run their businesses on a platform that is both secure and reliable and that allows them to remain competitive.”
Established in 2006 by NetScreen, Cisco and Juniper executives, Hillstone Networks is relied on by more than 12,000 customers around the world, including Fortune 500 companies, higher education, financial institutions and service providers. Hillstone Networks’ US headquarters are located in Sunnyvale, California.
