Hetzner Online, an international web hosting and data center operator from Germany, has deployed Infinera’s ICE6 solution on its countrywide network, which is capable of transmission speeds of up to 800 Gb/s. The project will upgrade Hetzner Online’s existing network and allow the firm to provide additional 400 GbE services throughout its network in order to fulfill the company’s customers’ growing bandwidth demands.
Hetzner Online will be the first firm in Germany to use Infinera’s fifth-generation ICE6 technology on the GX Series Compact Modular Platform to achieve cost-effective scalability of running optical communications at 600 Gb/s. Hetzner Online’s network capacity was doubled as a result of this implementation. Using an ICE6 optical engine with two 600 Gb/s wavelengths, Hetzner Online may deliver 3 x 400 GbE services between any two places in its network.
Infinera’s ICE6 would provide for a smooth network upgrade, guaranteeing that Hetzner Online can offer its clients reliable, ultra-high-speed capacity, allowing them to meet growing data traffic and bandwidth demands.
“Keeping up with the relentless growth in bandwidth of our customers is a critical aspect of being a leading provider of hosting services,” said Martin Fritzsche, Head of Network at Hetzner Online. “With ICE6’s industry-leading performance, we have been able to double the capacity of our network to meet the unpredictable data center interconnection needs of our customers in Germany and beyond.”
Rapid Bandwidth Growth – Cloud Services
Infinera’s ICE6 solution pioneered critical technologies such as probabilistic constellation shaping and digital Nyquist subcarrier technology with dual-carrier super-channels that enable this degree of high-capacity transmission across long distances. Hetzner Online’s flexible-grid backbone network can now serve a greater number of services on every fiber thanks to the integration of these technologies.
“Infinera’s high-performance ICE6 solution continues to meet the demands of rapid bandwidth growth driven by cloud services, providing operators like Hetzner Online the ability to maximize their network infrastructure by utilizing the greatest capacity at the greatest reach, resulting in a cost-effective and spectrally efficient solution,” said Nick Walden, Senior Vice President, Worldwide Sales, Infinera. “We are pleased to continue to support Hetzner Online in providing its customers with industry-leading services.”
Founded in 1997, Hetzner Online – a German company – owns and operates its own high tech data centers in Nuremberg and Falkenstein (both in Germany) and in Helsinki, Finland, and has a new location in Ashburn, Virginia, US. It’s one of the largest hosting providers in Europe.
Infinera’s open optical networking solutions would deliver economics and performance in long-haul, submarine, data center interconnect, and metro transport applications.
