Leaseweb, a global Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) hosting provider with more than 80,000 servers under management, operating 20 data centers in Europe, Asia, Australia and North America, has officially opened a new data center in Slough, Berkshire, expanding its offering in the UK. The new facility is Leaseweb’s third data center in the UK.
The new data center in the UK was established in partnership with Iron Mountain (NYSE:IRM), the storage and information management service provider that signed for the 2018 acquisition of EvoSwitch, Leaseweb’s sister company. Iron Mountain acquired EvoSwitch Netherlands B.V and EvoSwitch Global Services B.V. in May 2018 for the amount of $235 million.
At this major connectivity hub not far from London, Leaseweb UK would be able to offer “competitively priced” colocation services to additional customers. It can also expand its Disaster Recovery as a Service (DRaaS) offer to existing customers, including TOPdesk, the software specialist for service management.
“Leaseweb’s expertise in this area puts us in an excellent position to benefit from this trend,” said Eltjo Hofstee, Managing Director of Leaseweb UK. “We can help companies to distribute their workloads according to their needs, as a service partner for colocation, dedicated servers or a hybrid cloud. This new location in Slough allows us to leverage one of the largest connectivity hubs outside of London, enabling us to respond even better to this demand.”
In addition to the new data center in Slough, Leaseweb also has data centers in London, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Washington DC, New York, Atlanta, Chicago, Phoenix, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, Dallas, Miami, Singapore, Hong Kong and Sydney.
